During Operation Ellamy in 2011, Panavia Tornados operating from RAF Marham, England and a forward operating base at Gioia del Colle in Southern Italy were involved in combat missions over Libya, imposing a no-fly zone during the Libyan Civil war and helping to protect the civilian population from possible attack. Equipped with Sky Shadow ECM pods to help the aircraft evade enemy intercept over the combat zone and the devastating Storm Shadow air launched cruise missile, RAF Tornados destroyed numerous armored vehicles and artillery pieces, ensuring the success of the operation.
The Panavia Tornado is a two-seat variable sweep wing combat aircraft originally developed by the United Kingdom, Germany and Italy in three primary versions: IDS (Interdictor /Strike), ECR (Electronic Combat / Reconnaissance) and ADV (Air Defense Variant) Interceptor. The Tornado is in service with the UK Royal Air Force and the air forces of Germany, Italy and Saudi Arabia.
The Corgi Aviation Archive features a wide selection of high quality, ready-made, diecast model airplanes. Each model is crafted with meticulous attention to detail, using specifications of the original aircraft. Corgi models are built with diecast metal and some plastic components.
