1:72 Scale. Length: 4.9”. Wingspan: 6”
The Nakajima Ki-43 Hayabusa or "Oscar" was a Japanese single-engine fighter aircraft used by the Imperial Japanese Army Air Force during World War II. The Ki-43 was first flown in January 1939 and entered service with the IJAAF in 1941. It initially enjoyed air superiority, partly due to the small number of combat-ready Allied fighters. But, the introduction of more advanced Allied fighters such as the P-38 and the F4U exposed the Ki-43's dangerous design flaws such as its light armor and ineffective self-sealing fuel tanks, which caused high casualties in combat. The Ki-43 was used in China, Burma, the Malay Peninsula, New Guinea, South Pacific islands, the Philippines and the Japanese home islands. By the end of the war, many surviving Ki-43s were expended in Kamikaze attacks against U.S. ships. 5,919 Ki-43s were built.
