The Rapid Transit Series (RTS) bus was originally manufactured by General Motors starting in 1977. In 1987 the RTS design and patent rights were sold to the Transportation Manufacturing Corporation (TMC) of Roswell, New Mexico. In 1994 the design and patents were sold to Nova Bus where production continued until 2002 when Nova Bus left the US market. Starting in 2003 Millennium Transit Services (MTS) manufactured the RTS Legend.
