Knight Rider is a television series that aired on NBC from 1982 to 1986. A total of 90 episodes were produced. The series starred David Hasselhoff as Michael Knight, a former detective who, after being shot, is recruited by the Foundation for Law and Government (FLAG) to fight crime with the help of a car equipped with highly advanced artificial intelligence named K.I.T.T. (Knight Industries Two Thousand). The car used as KITT was a modified 1982 Pontiac Trans-Am.
