Herbie Goes to Monte Carlo, released in 1977, was the third in a series of films by Walt Disney Productions featuring 'Herbie' – the Volkswagen Beetle with a mind of its own. Herbie with driver Jim Douglas (Dean Jones) and ride-along mechanic Wheely Applegate (Don Knotts) are on an exciting adventure when they participate in the fictional "Trans-France" race from Paris to Monte Carlo. When Herbie isn’t falling in love, he is averting thieves who have hidden a stolen diamond inside his gas cap.
Herbie is a 1963 Volkswagen Beetle Model 117 Sunroof sedan, painted in L87 pearl white with added racing stripes, highback seats, foglight and a roll bar.
