Based on a novel by Ian Fleming, The 1964 film Goldfinger stars Sean Connery as the fictional British MI6 agent James Bond 007. In the film, Bond investigates a gold smuggling operation run by Auric Goldfinger (Gert Fröbe), who is planning to increase the value of his gold by detonating a nuclear bomb inside the United States Bullion Depository at Fort Knox and contaminating the U.S. gold reserve.
