Space Shuttle Endeavour (Vehicle Designation: OV-105) was NASA's fifth and final operational space shuttle to be built. It was constructed as a replacement for Challenger, which was lost in an accident shortly after launch on January 28, 1986. Endeavour was delivered to the Kennedy Space Center in May 1991 and was first flown on May 7, 1992, on STS-49. During this mission it captured and redeployed the stranded INTELSAT VI communications satellite. In December of 1998, on STS-88, Endeavour delivered the Unity Module, the first American built component, to the International Space Station. Endeavour was launched on its 25th and final flight (STS-134) on May 16, 2011. The mission ended successfully on June 1, 2011 when the spacecraft landed at the Kennedy Space Center after almost 16 days in space.Opening payload bay doors

Endeavour was built with structural spares from the construction of Discovery and Atlantis. The decision to build Endeavour was favored over refitting the Enterprise on cost grounds. As it was constructed later, the Endeavour was built with new hardware designed to improve and expand orbiter capabilities. Most of this equipment was incorporated into the other three orbiters during out-of-service major inspection and modification programs.
Space Shuttle Endeavour is named after the British HMS Endeavour, the ship that took James Cook on his first voyage of discovery from 1768 to 1771. This is why the name is spelled in the British English manner "Endeavour", rather than the American English "Endeavor".
The Space Shuttle program started with the awarding of a contract to Rockwell International's Space Transportation Systems Division. There were 6 shuttles built, Enterprise OV-101 (Orbital Vehicle) for testing, Columbia OV-102, Challenger OV-099, Discovery OV-103, Atlantis OV-104 and Endeavour OV-105. The first of 135 Space Shuttle missions took place April 12, 1981 and lasted 2 days 6 hours when STS-1 (Space Transportation System) was launched using Space Shuttle Columbia. Of the 135 mission launches there were 2 tragedies when Columbia and Challenger plus their crews were lost.
Hobby Master offers a wide selection of quality, pre-assembled, diecast model airplanes. Each model is crafted to a high level of accuracy using specifications of the original aircraft. They are constructed with precision-made diecast metal and some plastic components.
