Russia’s MAKS is an International aviation and space show designed to showcase Russian aviation and generate sales of their products. The event is biennial and held during odd number years and is located at the Zhukovsky International Airport. In 2019 MAKS 2019 took place and one aircraft that displayed was Su-30SM RF-81881 Blue 77 that bore the name “Kaliningrad”. In 1945 a World War II battle between Germany and the Soviets took place at Königsberg with the Germans surrendering. In 1946 Königsberg became Kaliningrad in honor of a Soviet leader.
The Sukhoi Su-30 (NATO code name: Flanker-C/G/H) is a twin-engine, two-seat fighter aircraft developed in the Soviet Union by Russia's Sukhoi Aviation Corporation. It is a multirole fighter for all-weather, air-to-air and air-to-surface deep interdiction missions. The Su-30 was first flown on December 31, 1989 with the first of three pre-production models flying on April 14, 1992.
