Captain Forrest Parham served in the U.S. military in World War II and Korea. In WWII, Parham was a member of the legendary 'Flying Tigers' in the 75th Fighter Squadron, 23rd Fighter Group based in Luliang, China. In August and September 1944, Parham scored his first three victories while flying a P-40N Mustang and in November 1944, now equipped with a P-51C named “Little Jeep”, he scored his last two victories making him an Ace. In April 1945 Parham was shot down in a P-51D and evaded capture.
The North American Aviation P-51 Mustang was a single-seat World War II fighter aircraft. First flown on October 26, 1940, the P-51 was designed and built in just 117 days. It flew most of its missions as a bomber escort in raids over Germany, helping ensure Allied air superiority from 1944. As well as being economical to produce, the P-51 was a fast and durable aircraft.
