1:48 Scale.  Length: 8.25".  Wingspan: 10"

Limited production of approximately 500 models worldwide

During the 76 days Ira Cassius Kepford spent with USN VF-17 “Jolly Rogers” he shot down 16 enemy aircraft. His first F4U was BuNo. 17684 “White 29” and served him well during his first 13 kills. On January 30, 1944 15 Corsairs from VF-17 were escorting TBFs on a raid on Rabaul and encountered about 25 Japanese Zekes along with Tonys and Zeros. Several Japanese fighters were destroyed with the loss of several Corsairs. Kepford claimed one Zeke and one Tony but “17684” was damaged and ground looped on landing destroying the aircraft.

The Vought F4U Corsair was a carrier-capable fighter aircraft used during World War II and the Korean War. First flown on May 29, 1940, the F4U entered operational service in 1942. It paired a lightweight fuselage with a powerful engine and a large propeller. In addition to its use by the United States and Great Britain, the F4U was also used by New Zealand, France, and other air forces (some until the 1960s) following the longest production run of any piston-engined fighter in United Stated history (1942-53). A total of 12,571 Corsairs were manufactured in 16 variants.
