The P-51 Mustang named “Passion Wagon” was originally piloted by Major Arval Roberson with the 362nd Fighter Squadron, 357th Fighter Group, who completed his tour of duty during World War II with 6 victories. The provocative nude nose art was applied by mechanic Bob Child. This P-51 was later assigned to Capt. Charles “Chuck” Weaver who kept the nose art. Capt. Weaver became an Ace by shooting down four Bf-109’s, three Fw-190’s and one Me-262.
The North American Aviation P-51 Mustang was a single-seat World War II fighter aircraft. First flown on October 26, 1940, the P-51 was designed and built in just 117 days. It flew most of its missions as a bomber escort in raids over Germany, helping ensure Allied air superiority from 1944. As well as being economical to produce, the P-51 was a fast and durable aircraft.
