Hobby Master 1:72 Air Power Series Diecast Model

Boeing F/A-18F "Advanced Super Hornet" prototype #168492, U.S. Navy, 2013 (with center weapon pod only)

1:72 Scale.  Length: 10".  Wingspan: 7.5"

Limited production of approximately 800 models worldwide

On August 5, 2013 the F/A-18F Advanced Super Hornet prototype (BuNo 168492) completed its maiden flight. Produced by Boeing and Northrop Grumman the ASH received engines increasing performance from 22,000 pounds to 26,400 pounds of thrust per engine. Conformal fuel tanks were also added to carry 3,500 pounds of fuel. There is provision for an Enclosed Weapons Pod (EWP) carrying 2,500 pounds of weapons internally and the cockpit is updated. The aircraft was given a special paint to reduce the radar cross-section and making it more stealthy and capable of performing well into the 2030s.

The McDonnell Douglas Boeing F/A-18E Super Hornet is a twin-engine multi-role carrier-based aircraft. The E variant is single-seater while the F variant is a tandem-seat configuration. The E is a much larger, more advanced and more capable variant of the F/A-18C. The Super Hornet variant can carry a larger array of weapons as well as more of them and is capable of returning to the carrier while still carrying unspent munitions. The first flight of the F/A-18E took place in 1995 with delivery to the U.S. Navy starting in 1999.
