VAW-115 “Liberty Bells” was commissioned on April 20, 1967. In 2008 E-2C Hawkeye #165296 C/N A52-167 was transferred to the USS George Washington. In 2010 the “Liberty Bells” began to receive the newer E-2C Hawkeye 2000. On September 4, 2012 the port wing of #165296 was damaged and on December 9 the starboard wing was damaged.
