The 428th FS “Buccaneers”, 366th FW is located at Mountain Home AFB, Idaho. The squadron was dedicated to train the Republic of Singapore Air Force pilots how to fly their new F-15. The 428th FS operates 12 aircraft to teach advanced weapons and tactics to the RSAF pilots as well as training ground crews and maintainers. These formal training missions are part of the Peace Carvin V agreement. Aircraft F-15SG Strike Eagle #05-0005 was built in 2005 and became the squadron commander's jet when it joined the 428th.
In 1967 the United States became aware of the Soviet MiG-25 Foxbat. This made it necessary to develop a new aircraft to counter the MiG-25. The USAF rejected the USN F-14 Tomcat and issued its own requirements. The solution came in the form of the McDonnell-Douglas (now Boeing) F-15 Eagle. The F-15A made its inaugural flight in July 1972 and in January 1976 the first Eagle entered service. The "E" entered service in 1989. The F-15 was the first dedicated USAF air superiority fighter since the F-86 Sabre.
