1:72 Scale.  Length: 9.3".  Wingspan: 6.7"

VMFA-232 “Red Devils” are the oldest and most decorated fighter squadron in the U.S. Marine Corps. Their lineage goes back to VF-3M in 1925. VMFA-232 began to re-equip with the F/A-18 Hornet in 1989. They participated in Operation Desert Shield (1990-91), Operation Desert Storm (1991) and in 1996 were assigned to MCAS Miramar, CA. In 2003 they deployed to Kuwait and took part in the invasion of Iraq as part of Operation Iraqi Freedom, returning to MCAS Miramar in April. In 2005, VMFA-232 became part of the United States Navy's Carrier Air Wing 11 and in May they deployed with the rest of CVW-11 aboard the USS Nimitz to the Western Pacific and Persian Gulf, returning in November 2005. In 2007 VMFA-232 deployed on the Nimitz again for a six-month cruise to the Persian Gulf. In May 2010 they deployed to Kandahar, Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and returned to MCAS Miramar in November.

The McDonnell Douglas (Boeing) F/A-18 Hornet is a supersonic, twin-engine, all-weather night fighter and attack aircraft. The F/A-18s first flew in November 1978 and the first production flight on April 12, 1980. The first 380 F/A-18s were the A version and in September 1987 production switched to the F/A-18C. Variants A and C are single-seat aircraft while B and D are tandem-seats. The Hornet can operate from either aircraft carriers or land bases with the capability of in-flight refueling. A total of 1,480 A-D variants were built.
