Lockheed F-22 Raptor #05-4098 was delivered on July 20, 2007 and is currently allocated to the 95th FS. On August 28, 2015 05-4098, along with three other F-22s of the 95th FS from Tyndall AFB, arrived at Spangdahlem AB in Germany as part of the first F-22 European training program named “Operation Atlantic Resolve”. Also included in the arrival was a McDonnell Douglas C-17 Globemaster III with 50+ support airmen.
The Lockheed Martin/ Boeing F-22 Raptor is a single seat, twin-engine fighter aircraft that uses stealth technology. It was designed as an air superiority fighter, but has additional capabilities which include ground attack, electronic warfare and signals intelligence roles. It is constructed using 39% titanium, 24% composite material, 16% aluminum and 1% thermoplastic by weight. All of these components contribute to the Raptor being a lightweight, extremely maneuverable extremely fast aircraft. The F-22 Raptor was first flown in September, 1997. The first production F-22 was delivered to Nellis Air Force Base, Nevada, on January 14, 2003.
