F-22A Raptor No. 91-4007 made its maiden flight on October 15, 2001 and was delivered to the 411th FLTS/ 412th TW at Edwards AFB, CA on January 5, 2002. 91-4007 is simply referred to as Raptor 07. Over the years 91-4007 carried out several F-22 firsts including the first AIM-120 and AIM-9 launches, first to down a drone with a missile and more. Along with missile launches Raptor 07 also took part in numerous satellite-guided weapons release tests. On April 19, 2013 this aircraft successfully completed its 1,000 sortie.
The Lockheed Martin/ Boeing F-22 Raptor is a single seat, twin-engine fighter aircraft that uses stealth technology. It was designed as an air superiority fighter, but has additional capabilities which include ground attack, electronic warfare and signals intelligence roles. It is constructed using 39% titanium, 24% composite material, 16% aluminum and 1% thermoplastic by weight. All of these components contribute to the Raptor being a lightweight, extremely maneuverable extremely fast aircraft. The F-22 Raptor was first flown in September, 1997. The first production F-22 was delivered to Nellis Air Force Base, Nevada, on January 14, 2003.
