AV-8B Harrier II Plus #164562 first flew on January 15, 1994 and delivered to USMC VMA-223 on January 31, 1994 and was later transferred to VMA-231. In 2012 this aircraft was painted to celebrate “Marine Aviation Centennial”.

The AV-8B Harrier II Plus is the second-generation Vertical and/or Short Take-Off and Landing (V/STOL) ground-attack aircraft operated by the U.S. Marine Corps. It is primarily used for light attack or multi-role tasks, typically operated from smaller carriers and large amphibious assault ships. The British Harrier GR7/GR9 are operated by the Royal Air Force and Royal Navy.
