Hobby Master 1:72 Air Power Series Diecast Model
Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-21MF – #5121, Phan Tuam, 921st “Sao Do,” North Vietnamese Air Force (NVAF), December 1972
1:72 Scale. Length: 8". Wingspan: 4"
In the early 1970’s the North Vietnamese Air Force 921st “Sao Do” was equipped with MiG-21s and later took part in flying against U.S. aircraft during “Operation Linebacker II”. On December 27, 1972 the NVAF claim that MiG-21MF “5121” flown by Pham Tuan shot down a USAF B-52 but this is disputed by the USAF. After the Vietnam War, Pham Tuan became the first Vietnam citizen to go into space aboard the Soviet Soyuz 37 “Gorbatko”. His MiG-21MF is on display at the Vietnamese Air Force Museum in Hanoi.
The MiG-21 is a supersonic jet fighter designed by the Mikoyan-Gurevich Design Bureau in the former Soviet Union. Some 50 countries over four continents have flown the MiG-21, and it still serves many nations over a half-century after its maiden flight in 1955. It is the most-produced combat aircraft since the Korean War, and it had the longest production run of a combat aircraft (1959 to 1985 over all variants).
Hobby Master offers a wide selection of quality, pre-assembled, diecast model airplanes. Each model is crafted to a high level of accuracy using specifications of the original aircraft. They are constructed with precision-made diecast metal and some plastic components.
