National Lampoon's Vacation is a 1983 comedy film that follows the adventures of the Griswold family; Clark and his wife Ellen, daughter Audrey and son Rusty, as they set out from their home in Chicago on a family vacation to the fictional Walley World theme park in California. Clark has planned the vacation down to the very last detail, including a stop to see the world's largest ball of twine. However, Clark’s quest of the perfect trip is matched by his dimwitted bumbling, leading to a vacation his family will not soon forget.
The film starred Chevy Chase as Clark Griswold, Beverly D'Angelo as Ellen Griswold, Anthony Michael Hall as Rusty Griswold, Dana Barron as Audrey Griswold, Imogene Coca as Aunt Edna and Randy Quaid as Cousin Eddie.
The Wagon Queen Family Truckster was created specifically for the film. It is based on a 1979 Ford LTD Country Squire station wagon and was heavily modified. It features a pea green paint scheme; fake wood paneling; eight headlights (four on each side in a rectangular cluster) and a grille area largely covered by bodywork having only two small openings close to the bumper.
