Launched on May 25, 1973, Skylab 2 was the first manned mission to the Skylab orbital space station. The mission was launched on a Saturn IB rocket with an Apollo command module that carried Commander Charles “Pete” Conrad, Jr., Pilot Paul Weitz, and Science Pilot Dr. Joseph Kerwin. The crew spent 28 days in space and set a record for human spaceflight duration. The mission ended successfully on June 22, 1973 with a splashdown in the Pacific Ocean.
Skylab was the United States' first space station, and the second space station occupied by a human crew. The 100-ton space station orbited the Earth from 1973 to 1979 and was visited by crews three times in 1973 and 1974. Skylab was launched on May 14 1973 by a Saturn INT-21 (a two-stage version of the Saturn V rocket) into a 235 nautical mile (435 km) orbit.
The Dragon Wings Space Collection includes high quality, fully assembled, die-cast models of spacecraft and rockets. Each model is crafted with meticulous attention to detail using original specifications. They are constructed with diecast metal and some plastic components.
