The Bonanza Bus Company has a long and distinguished history of bus service in the Northeast USA. The first MCI 102 DL3s were added to the Bonanza fleet in 1994. Bonanza is based out of Providence, Rhode Island and, since 2003, is a subsidiary company of Peter Pan Bus Lines.

In 1990 MCI presented its first 45-ft prototype coach, the 102 DL3, which went into production in 1992. The 55 passenger coach soon became popular with charter and long distance operators.
