The M3 half-track was an armored vehicle used by the United States, Great Britain, and Allies during World War II. It was developed from the M3 scout car as a personnel carrier. Many more uses became apparent by mounting a 37mm cannon with two .50 caliber machine guns, 75mm and 105mm cannons. Also built was an M16 Multiple Gun Motor Carriage called the "Quad 50". The M16 was equipped with a Maxson M45 Quadmount consisting of four .50 caliber Browning M2 machine guns mounted on a powered turret. It was used as an anti-aircraft vehicle.
