The Bell UH-1 Iroquois helicopter, better known as the 'Huey', first started arriving in Vietnam in 1962. It was used in a variety of roles including Medevac and as a troop/material transport. The UH-1 “Huey” was also used for air assault and could be equipped with guns, grenade launchers and rockets. Introduced in 1959, over 16,000 Huey helicopters were built in different variants.
