The F8F Bearcat was a single-engine US Navy fighter aircraft which entered service after World War II. It went on to serve into the mid-20th Century in the US Navy and with other air forces. It would be Grumman's final piston engined fighter aircraft. The Navy retired the Bearcat in 1955.
