The term Biscuit Bomber comes from Australian infantry referring to their transports re-supplying using cardboard ice cream containers full of straw and food because of a lack of proper containers. The C-47 Skytrain or Dakota (RAF designation) was a military transport aircraft developed from the Douglas DC-3 airliner. It was used by the United States and its allies during World War II in a variety of roles including; transporting troops and supplies, casualty evacuation, glider towing and, perhaps most famously, dropping U.S. and Allied paratroopers into combat. The C-47 had several modifications which included; a large cargo door, reinforced floor and upgraded landing gear. In the supply role it could carry 6,000 pounds of equipment, and as a paratroop aircraft it was equipped with benches for 27 fully armed troops. After the war ended thousands of surplus C-47s were converted for use by civilian airlines and private owners. Douglas Aircraft built more than 10,000 C-47s in numerous variants.
Hobby Master offers a wide selection of quality, pre-assembled, diecast model airplanes. Each model is crafted to a high level of accuracy using specifications of the original aircraft. They are constructed with precision-made diecast metal and some plastic components.
