Later missions included the launch of the Galileo interplanetary probe to Jupiter on STS-34 on October 18, 1989, STS-37, with the Gamma Ray Observatory as its primary payload, on April 5, 1991, the first shuttle docking to the Mir Space Station on STS-71 in June 1995 and the final Hubble Telescope servicing mission on STS-125 in May 2009. In May of 2010, Atlantis was launched on a mission to deliver a Integrated Cargo Carrier and a Russian Mini Research Module to the International Space Station.
Atlantis, NASA's fourth operational space shuttle, was named after the sailing ship that served as the primary research vessel for the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute from 1930 to 1966.
The 33rd and final flight of Atlantis (STS-135) was launched on July 8, 2011. This historic flight is the 135th and final mission of NASA’s space shuttle program.
