Apollo 11 was the fifth human space flight of Project Apollo and the first manned lunar landing mission. Launched on July 16, 1969, it carried Mission Commander Neil Armstrong, Command Module Pilot Michael Collins, and Lunar Module Pilot Edwin 'Buzz' Aldrin, Jr. On July 20, 1969, Armstrong and Aldrin became the first humans to walk on the Moon while Collins orbited above
The Saturn V (pronounced "Saturn Five") was a multistage, liquid-fuel, expendable rocket used by NASA's Apollo and Skylab programs from 1967 until 1973. In total, NASA launched thirteen missions using the Saturn V. At a height of 363 feet, it is the largest and most powerful launch vehicle ever brought to operational status from a height, weight and payload standpoint.
