The Mack L series commercial truck made its debut in 1940 and was manufactured for various platforms for multiple purposes through 1954. Over the course of those 14 years, 1,453 Mack L fire apparatus were built in either Allentown, PA or Long Island City, NY.
The first fire station for the Chicago Fire Department was built in 1835 on LaSalle Street where City Hall currently stands. At the time, they operated two-hand engines. This model replicates a Mack L once operated by Engine 50
