Capt. "Bud" Mahurin shot down a total of 19.75 aircraft, ranging from Fw 190's to a Ju 88, while with the 56th FG. This War Bond presentation aircraft (the second assigned to Mahurin) was used for all but three of these victories – the first two (Fw 190s) were achieved in 42-6259/UN-V on August 17th and a claimed Bf 109 in D-11 42-75278/UN-B on November 29th.
Affectionately nicknamed "Jug", the P-47 was one of the most famous USAAF fighter planes of WW II. The P-47 made its first flight in May 1941, and in March 1942 the first production model was delivered. By the end of the war, Republic Aviation Corp. had built more than 15,600 P-47s
The Corgi Aviation Archive features a wide selection of high quality, ready-made, diecast model airplanes. Each model is crafted with meticulous attention to detail, using specifications of the original aircraft. Corgi models are built with diecast metal and some plastic components.
The models in the Corgi Aviation Archive series feature: realistic panel lines, a detailed cockpit with pilot figure, historically accurate aircraft markings and landing gear with rubber tires. They can be displayed with the landing gear down or 'in flight' on the included stand.
